  • How you have contributed to the commercial success of the business in the last 12 months
  • How you have shared knowledge with your e-commerce peers in the last 12 months
  • How you have championed innovation in the business in the last 12 months
  • What your broader impact on the community has been in the last 12 months

Every applicant receives a score for each of these criteria based on the information they provide in their application.

In addition, every applicant is scored by three judges.

Heather has edited the Top 50 People in E-Commerce since 2017. She is also the features and premium editor at Inside Retail, with a particular focus on the APAC region and e-commerce. Over the past four years, she has traveled to Shenzhen to cover the epic Chinese shopping event Single’s Day, doggedly reported the details of Amazon's launch in Australia, dissected the 'Instagram aesthetic' with three brands that embody the look and followed the local fashion industry's pivot to making PPE during Covid-19.

With 25 years of experience in logistics and transportation, Paul offers expertise in global business development, sales management and designing efficient supply chain models to maximise customer value.


Paul has worked for CouriersPlease for three  years, originally as the Victorian State Manager and more recently as the Chief Commercial Officer which is responsible for the joint junctions of sales and marketing across the CouriersPlease business.


He previously spent 19 years at DHL Express with postings in New Zealand, Fiji, Malaysia and Singapore, holding various roles including National Sales Manager (New Zealand & Malaysia), General Manager South Pacific as well as Global Multinational Customer Director South Asia.


Paul also previously worked as Network Manager of Global Operations at Toll and International General Manager at TNT Express.

Shannon Ingrey

Shannon Ingrey

Vice president and general manager, APAC, BigCommerce

Shannon is responsible for partnering with merchants, agencies and technology partners to deliver outstanding commerce solutions for the APAC region. He is a proven executive with more than 15 years of global experience across management, marketing, sales and operations. Before BigCommerce he served as chief revenue officer at courier tech company Shippit. Prior to this he established and built the APAC business for Bronto before it was sold to Oracle.

Richard Umbers

Richard Umbers


Richard is an experienced CEO, board member and advisor across the retail and logistics sectors, with particular focus on omnichannel and digital.     

He was formerly the CEO of Myer and StarTrack, and has held senior roles with many leading retailers including Kaufland, Woolworths and Aldi. He currently consults on the transition to omnichannel and on omnichannel logistics, and holds board roles at Stone & Chalk and


Peta Granger


Peta is highly regarded as one of the country’s most successful retail leaders specialising in retail sales, brand innovation and strategic growth. As co-director of Lush in Australia and New Zealand for 10 years, she drove organisational vision, strategy and culture to turn the business from loss-making into healthy multi-million dollar profits. Peta is passionate about ethical trade, sustainability, regenerative systems and using business, trade and profit to create impact that pushes Australia into a more progressive direction.

Paul has worked in e-commerce since 2007 when he launched an omnichannel men’s footwear business. Ten years later, he became the head of operations at Showpo, and after two years, he became the CEO of The Horse. He has advised some of Australia’s fastest growing e-commerce businesses and contributed over $250 million to Australian e-commerce. In 2020, Paul developed Tippy, a fully recyclable toothbrush, which is set to launch this year.


Meray Azar

Digital retail specialist

A digital nomad that never stops learning and a career that is forever evolving, Meray has worked for some of Australia's leading retailers: Spotlight Retail Group, Jeanswest and Officeworks. Most recently, she has applied her extensive knowledge in e-commerce and CRM to grow Australia's most exciting up-and-coming retail brands.
